Flying Squad

Are you a primary school teacher: Currently part time? On leave? Supply teaching? Retired? On Maternity leave? Or looking for work in your holidays?

As you may know, Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services are experiencing severe staffing shortages, which means it’s often difficult to release pre-service teachers to undertake their professional experience.

ACA Qld’s ‘Flying Squad’ is a free new service to assist ECEC services to find suitably qualified, temporary staff. Priority is currently being given to covering absences on prac for people studying their Early Childhood Teaching (ECT) degree. Prac placements are typically between two and four weeks. A Flying Squad member replacing an ECT on prac will most likely work with kindergarten children, although not always.

Under the sector’s regulations, you are qualified to undertake one of these temporary assignments if you have:

an ECT degree,

a Primary teaching degree or

a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.

How do I become involved?

To lodge your Expression of Interest in the Flying Squad, click the ‘Enquire Now‘ button below and tell us a bit about yourself. There’s sure to be an ECEC service that will be very pleased to meet you!

‘Flying Squad’ is an initiative of Australian Childcare Alliance Queensland (ACA Qld), proudly supported by the Queensland Government. ACA Qld is the state’s peak body for providers of early childhood education and care services.

ACA Qld’s role is to match a service with interested and suitably qualified candidates. The employment arrangements are a matter between the service and the Flying Squad member.

There is no charge for this service.

Thank you. Once we have reviewed your information we will match you with relevant opportunities. We will be back in contact soon.
